// I didn’t wash my hair for 2 months?!?! //

Hey hey hey! Before I get into this week’s post I do want to tell you guys that I have finally uploaded a new podcast!! And I must say sorry for not uploading frequently :/ I am rather bad at doing so but! Do not fear I have up loaded a new one yesterday and so if you haven’t has the time to listen to it, I suggest that you do so, my brother and I talked about friendship and answered a few question like: How do I know people truly see and love me? and What do I look for in a friend? So if these sound interesting make sure to hope on over to Youtube and listen to it, it was a blast making it!! 😁 Also just a little reminder that if you would like to receive an email for every time I upload a new post then you must go to the home page and scroll all the way down to subscribe and put your email in the box! Ok, few πŸ˜… that was a lot, now onto today’s post!!

So if you read the title then you know what is coming 😬 that is an explanation. πŸ˜‚ A little while ago in March I kept seeing all these different videos of people going “poo-free,” which the term “poo-free” really means – shampoo and conditioner free – This as you can image got me really thinking about the pros and cons of not having to use chemicals to clean my hair. So as I kept researching and debating *with myself* if I should do it, I found the main good things that could come with going poo-free.

Pros: -You save money, -The oils in you head stabilizes to how they are freely supposed to be, -It reduces the amount of time you have to clean your hair on a weekly bases, -It reduces the amount of acne you get, -you can use coconut oil to make it soft (a natural conditioner) -You don’t have to buy plastic waste bottles -And in the end your hair/head gets a better/richer life.

Ok, now I have just listed some of the pros that I had found in the videos I had listen to. My goal with all of this was to observe if this “poo-free” lifestyle would benefit me. Also I must add the people that I watch did mention that during the first month I would get a lot of excess oil build-up on my head because apparently “the oils on my head would be re-equilibrating themselves.”

So on March 29 2020, during isolation, Victoria (me) decided to go “cold-turkey” (as they call it) into the unknown of not cleaning her hair. And this is how it went…

First few wash, I was doing great, my head/hair was not to oily and my hair smelled good too. So I kept at it, I did notice that throughout this journey my hair was getting lighter because of the sunlight and the no-chemicals in my hair, I also notice that when I would take my hair out of braids the curls would stay in longer (which I loved.) πŸ˜„

THE CURLSSSS 😍😍πŸ₯³πŸ€©

As April flew by, I did notice that when I would brush my hair a lot of the oily/dead skin would get onto my brush, which made it seem as though when I would brush my hair it would only make my hair even oilier. πŸ˜• So that was a bum bum for me.

However, I did not despair and I kept at it because I knew that there would be that oily period that would be disgusting but after that it should get better… right? Well… it didn’t. 😭 And by May 27, I cleaned my hair with shampoo and let me tell you WOW MY HAIR WAS SILKY! 🀩πŸ€ͺ

So to end this off, I did not stick with it all the way and I’m not gonna lie I was bummed that I didn’t stick with it but I was also really happy that my scalp was clean. So down below I will list the cons to this experiment. But who knowns maybe that was the “greasy” time that those people were warning me about and who knowns maybe if I would have kept at it I would have past that greasy stage, but oh well.

Cons: -I had to clean my hair more often then when I used shampoo, -I was always over-thinking about my hair being so greasy, -I never felt really clean, -I couldn’t brush my hair because it constantly made my hair greasier, -I couldn’t iron curl my hair because of the fact that I would not be able to properly clean it after, -I never really new if my hair smelled good πŸ§πŸ˜‚

This was during the middle of the hair journey πŸ˜‚

So in the end I would say I am disappointed that I never got to that “non-greasy” stage, and in the future I would love to try a do my own shampoo kind of thing (yk?), I know that there is this apple-cider vinegar kind of shampoo that is supposed to be healthier then regular shampoo (which I would love to try!) All in the good ol’ future of course. πŸ˜„

WOW, well that is all for today guys, if you have read all the way to here THANK YOU! You are a true one. I hope you have enjoyed reading this queer story of my hair-isolation journey. πŸ˜‚ Did you like this post? What do you want to see next? Have you ever gone on a “poo-free” journey? How did it go for you?

And as always, thanks for reading!

  1. I would love to try this but my hair gets greasy super quickly! your hair is so pretty πŸ’› also I feel like the extra oils would cause a lot of acne for me, did you notice that happening at all throughout the challenge?

    • Thank you!! And to answer your question… I did not see β€œmore” acne but I did have the usual amount lol. And normally the extra oils that would accumulate would be β€œwashed” away by me just rinsing my hair through water and thoroughly massaging my scalp while showering lol
Hope you have a blessed day,
      xxπŸ’˜ ~Victoria

  2. Hiya there! I’m Hailey, and I am literally so happy that I found your blog! It is literally amazing and I love your blog name too, me and one of my friends always say potatoes are basically our spirit animals so I love that πŸ˜‚ Also great post! I actually only wash my hair every 6-10 days and people think its the grossest thing ever but the results are literally amazing! (I still bathe every day, I still stay clean without washing my hair) Haha I still fight the urge to want to just wash my hair but its so worth it and your hair feels so much softer, fresher and healthier in the end! I think I might try to go Shampoo-free for a month or two sometime rather than just a week! Great post, and I cant wait to see more on here!
